Environmental Policy
Feile Clai Project follows polices which are committed to sustaining the environment and minimising its negative impact on its immediate environment and the wider environment.
1) The Purchasing/ Acquirement of Products:
All purchases made by the Feile Clai Project will take into account any environmental factors and effects these may have and will therefore:
- Ensure energy saving and resourcefulness is a consideration in design and implementation of capital projects
- Ensure also that recycled products are used wherever possible in capital projects.
- Wood products are purchased from suppliers registered under the Soil Association Woodmark scheme wherever possible.
- Purchase administration equipment such as paper/card which has had a positive effect on the environment e.g. recycled or from a renewable source.
- Ensure that any cleaning materials/chemicals used in everyday circumstances by the company do not contain ingredients which may cause damage to the environment.
2) Recycling of Waste Materials
The Feile Clai Project is committed to actively promoting a recycling scheme within the organization and encourage recycling in the wider community
- Contact is sustained and wherever possible strengthened with local recycling and waste minimisation initiatives
- Office equipment and other unused items destined as water will be recycled through relevant organisations wherever possible
- Recycling deposit points will be provided for recycling paper or card
- Printing will be minimised through effective use of email and ICT facilities.
- Recycling deposit points for glass will be provided and use promoted
- Recycling deposit points for aluminium and bi metal cans will be provided and use promoted
3) Any Additional Factors
- The use of public transport will be promoted to all staff
- Conservation of energy products such as light bulbs will be preferred
- Heating and lighting will be monitored for over-usage which may have a damaging effect upon the environment.
- The use of video conferencing to minimise travel will be encouraged.
- Conservation measures to be applied to water usage wherever possible.
